All-Ireland winners Kerry lead the way with five players on the GAA GPA Football All Star team for 2014.

Paul Murphy, Peter Crowley, David Moran, Kieran Donaghy and James O’Donoghue have all been selected in the 15 to round off a memorable year for Eamonn Fitzmaurice's side.

Beaten finalists Donegal receive four awards and the losing semi-finalists Mayo and Dublin each earn three.

In all there are six first-time recipients with Kerry's Murphy, Crowley and Moran joining the Dublin duo of James McCarthy and Diarmuid Connolly and Cillian O’Connor of Mayo on this year's team.

The latter adds an All Star to the underage awards he has previously collected.

There was much speculation as to where Donegal's Michael Murphy would be picked. He has been named at number 11, with Kieran Donaghy, whose introduction for Kerry at the business end of the championship turned out to be a masterstroke, filling the full-forward berth.

The hurling selection will be announced live on RTÉ One television and RTÉ.ie from 7pm on Friday as will the Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year winners in both codes.
