Monaghan are set to ratify Malachy O'Rourke as the new manager of their senior footballers.
A statement from the Monaghan County Board said: “Malachy O’Rourke will be recommended as senior football county manager to county committee meeting next Monday night.”
O’Rourke would succeed Eamonn McEneaney in the role after the he stepped down in July in the wake of a qualifier defeat to Laois.
The Derrylin man was in charge of his native Fermanagh from 2007 to 2010.
He brought the Erne County to an Ulster final in 2008 where they eventually lost out to Armagh after a replay.
The former Fermanagh player guided Derry side Loup to the Ulster Club title in 2003 and steered Errigal Ciaran and Cavan Gaels to county titles in Tyrone and Cavan.
