Westmeath football chairman Des Maguire has said he is hopeful of being able to persuade star forward Denis Glennon back onto the football panel ahead of the Leinster Championship.

News that the county's star attacker had opted off the county panel emerged yesterday as it was confirmed he has not returned to training since the end of the county's disappointing National League campaign, which saw the Lakesiders relegated from Division One after seven straight defeats.
