Tyrone manager Mickey Harte has singled out Sean Cavanagh and skipper Brian Dooher for special praise following their contribution to Sunday's 1-15 0-14 All-Ireland SFC final victory over Kerry.
Cavanagh was named Man of the Match, claiming 0-05, and earned him the gratitude of his manager. 'It was a revelation for him to get out at midfield and show the whole repertoire of skills that he has,' Harte said.
'We certainly have not seen the end of Sean Cavanagh. He will get better. I see him becoming a more complete footballer every year he plays.'
Harte was also delighted with the performance of Dooher, who lifted the Sam Maguire Cup for the second time on Sunday.
'Brian Dooher, that man defies logic. The point he scored (in the first half) will go down as one of the greatest points ever scored in Croke Park and there are plenty of them about,' Harte insisted.
'He is special, he is the leader. The players take their cue from him and we have been blessed to have leaders like that in the past, Peter Canavan, the late Cormac (McAnallen) and Brian Dooher was some replacement.
'We talk about replacing players and I don’t know how we will replace him. We will never see the likes of him again. He is something special, although he would hate to hear me say it.'
