Mayo midfielder Ronan McGarrity has been diagnosed with testicular cancer.
He will undergo treatment immediately and has been ruled out of the game for the coming months.
McGarrity played in the 2004 and 2006 All-Ireland final defeats to Kerry and also plays senior basketball for Ballina in the Superleague.
Elsewhere in Mayo, both David Brady and Kevin O'Neill are injured and will miss Sunday's Allianz League game against Fermanagh in Clones.
