The Australian Football League have named their squad for next month's International Rules Series against Ireland. The Australian squad, which is sponsored by Foster’s, will gather in Melbourne on Saturday October 5 for a three-day training camp, before heading to Dublin. Ireland is the defending champion, having won last year's series in Australia, but the last Australian touring team to Ireland in 2000 completed a 2-0 sweep of the series.
The players selected in the 2002 All Australian side were automatically included in the Australian squad, if they were available to tour, while the selection committee was able to add players to top up the squad. A final check on the health of all players will be made after this week's Grand Final. The two Coca-Cola Test matches will be played at Croke Park on Sunday October 13 and Sunday October 20.
