A Robbie Brady header in the 85th minute has handed the Republic of Ireland a 1-0 victory over Italy in their final Group E clash in Lille.

The win means Ireland advance to the last 16 as one of the best third placed teams and will face hosts France in Lyon at 2pm on Sunday.

Ireland enjoyed the better opportunities all game, but struggled to break the Italians down before a cross from substitute Wes Hoolahan found Norwich teammate Brady in the box.

The Dubliner made no mistake as he headed past the onrushing Salvatore Sirigu to send the Irish fans into dreamland.
