Republic of Ireland defender Marc Wilson will not play again for Stoke this season but boss Mark Hughes says he “should be okay” for Euro 2016.
The versatile 28-year-old hasn’t played since the end of January when he suffered a knee injury against Crystal Palace in the FA Cup.
The Potters' manager also revealed that the ex-Portsmouth player failed to come through a reserve game with the club.
“Marc’s struggling,” said Hughes. “He had that reaction in the Under-21 game and it’s not settled down enough for me to think he’s an option before the end of the season.
“He’s obviously still hoping to be involved with Ireland; he should be okay for that but the knee won’t settle down before the West Ham game [on 15 May].”
Wilson last played for Ireland in the 1-1 draw with Bosnia and Herzegovina in the Euro 2016 play-offs.
Martin O’Neill’s side will face Netherlands on 27 May in Dublin and Belarus in Cork four days later.
Ireland's first game of the European Championships is against Sweden on 13 June.
