In a tough Gucci Gold Cup competition at Paris tonight, Bertram Allen and Quiet Easy managed to claim €10,000 and a fourth place finish despite having a fence down in both rounds.
The daunting course let only three riders from a start list of 28 achieve zero scores in the first round, but a blistering turn of speed from the Irish combination left them fastest of the four-faulters going in to the second round.
Of the ten who qualified for the winning round, 20-year-old Allen and Quainton Stud's chestnut gelding again faulted once, but once more their sheer speed was enough to secure fourth spot in the competition.
The elite French competition was won by popular local rider Simon Delestre with the ten year-old Chesall, who received €33,000 in prize money.
The Paris Longines Grand Prix takes place on Sunday afternoon.
