John Joe Nevin will make his return to the ring in the USA on Saturday night after recovering from two broken legs earlier this year.
The 2012 Olympic silver medallist will meet Calvin Stifford over four rounds in the Ring of Dreams Gym in North Carolina.
Both men weighed-in last night. Stifford will be making his pro debut.
Nevin, who is signed with GreenBlood of Philadelphia, won on his professional debut in Boston last St Patrick’s Day after earning a unanimous decision over Alberto Candelaria of Puerto Rico
But it was feared that he would not box again after a vicious assault near his home in Mullingar last April.
GreenBlood chief Tom Moran said that he knew Nevin was ready for his comeback after seeing him sparring in Philadelphia this week.
“He looks terrific. I know he’s ready and this is the perfect way to get started again,” said Tim Witherspoon’s former manager.
Nevin admitted that the last few months have been very difficult, but that he is now eagerly looking forward to resuming his career.
He said: “It’s been the hardest six months of my life. Thankfully, I now have the chance to do it all again on Saturday night.”
Ireland’s Ray McGinley, Anthony Cacace and Tyrone McKenna, who are also signed with GreenBlood, will also fight on Saturday night.
