Rhasidat Adeleke has smashed her own Irish record over 400m and posted the fourth fastest time in the world this year at the NCAA Championships in Austin.
Only last month in Florida, Adeleke broke the 50-second barrier for the first time, clocking a new national record of 49.90 in finishing second behind Britton Wilson.
This morning, Adeleke brought the record down once more, posting a time of 49.54 to win her quarter-final ahead of Rosey Effiong.

The time is faster than that run by the silver medallist in last year's European 400m final - a race in which Adeleke finished fifth. Only the gold medallist, Femke Bol, posted a faster time with 49.44.
Remarkably, the Austin run is Adeleke's sixth national record of 2023. Also last month in Florida, Adeleke demolished the Irish record over 200m with a time of 22.34.
