Sprinter Leon Reid is set to be put forward by Athletics Ireland to represent Team Ireland at the Tokyo Games.
The nomination will rest with the Olympic Federation of Ireland, who have until 5 July to ratify the personnel flying to Japan for the delayed Olympic Games.
Reid (26) has pleaded not guilty to charges he and 17 others are facing in the UK, with a further hearing at Bristol Crown Court scheduled for 23 July - the day the Olympics get underway in Tokyo.
Reid was an impressive winner of the 200m at the Irish Senior Athletics Championships in Santry on Sunday.
