Chambers beats Greene and Montgomerie in Oslo

Britian's Dwain Chambers scored the most impressive victory of his career when he won the 100metres ahead of top American sprinters Maurice Greene and Tim Montgomery in tonight's IAAF Golden League meeting in Oslo. Europe's fastest man this year coped far more easily in the cold conditions and won in the unofficial time of 10.05seconds with Greene just 0.01secs behind. Montgomery clocked 10.10secs.

Chambers, who captained the British team to a fifth European Cup success in Annecy last weekend, came through brilliantly after Greene had made a superb start to capture the scalps of last year's World Championships gold and silver medallists.

Claiming he knew he had won the race the moment he crossed the line, Chambers initially refused the winner's bouquet. He admitted: "That was just a little bit of kidology - I knew I had won. It was a case of being close to him in mid-race. I've now got new horsepower after working on my weaknesses. I thought to myself I will not let the guy get away from me."
