It appears that former All-Ireland winning captain Gerald McCarthy may re-enter the race to succeed John Allen as the Cork hurling manager.
Last week McCarthy indicated he would not be in a position to commit the necessary time to the position and appeared to withdraw from the race.
However it is believed he has been approached by County Board officials in the last few days and it appears he is now the preferred candidate for the post.
