Cunningham replaces Nash for Limerick

Limerick hurlers have moved quickly to replace the vacancy left by Delcan Nash yesterday.

Nash stood down from his position as a selector just two weeks before the Treatymen are due to face the might of Kilkenny in the All-Ireland quarter-finals.

Ger Cunningham, who had been working in the capacity of team coach, was last night appointed a new team selector.

The decision was unexpected, as it was understood that the Limerick County Board was in no rush to name a replacement for Nash.

Cunningham has an excellent track record having guided tiny north Cork village side Newtownshandrum to an All-Ireland club title.
