There was more disappointment for Ireland at International Badmionton Championships in Baldoyle today. Irish Womens' champion, Dublin’s Sonya McGinn, lost to Scotland's Yuan Gao in the quarter-finals of the womens' singles. McGinn’s misery was compounded with defeat in the doubles later this afternoon, where she partnered Keelin Fox.
Ireland’s Mark and Bruce Topping lost in the semi-finals of the mens' doubles, going down to the Number 1 seeds, Scotland's Alastair Gatt and Craig Robertson this evening. They join Donnie O'Halloran and David Hogan who also lost narrowly to the Number 2 seeds from England, James Anderson and Graham Hurrell.
