PRESENTER: Terry Flanagan
LOCATION: Clonsilla, West County Dublin
MOONEY GOES WILD reporter Terry Flanagan is broadcasting from his home in Clonsilla in West County Dublin.
LOCATION: The gardens have mature hedges over 25 years old and these attract a variety of small birds. They are evergreen and thorny, so provide ideal cover for roosting and nesting. Sparrows are in serious decline, but their stronghold is the suburban garden where they are doing well, just like mine, where there is a population of about 50. They are very friendly, but very noisy. They are not the most colourful and they don't have the nicest song, but they are special.
TARGET SPECIES: Sparrows and blackbirds
