If you have had a small child in your life in the last ten years, chances are you are already familiar with Harley Bird. For almost a decade, she's been the voice behind Peppa Pig, the hugely popular cartoon character who has broadcasted in homes in more than 180 countries.

But, as she told The Ryan Tubridy Show this morning, she can't really remember her early days as Peppa Pig when the show debuted in 2004. She was just five years old at the time "didn't really understand" the process. Plus, she was still learning to read.

"When I started I couldn't really read and I got into the habit of copying other voices."

Off the back of the show's success, Harley to became the youngest ever BAFTA winner when she was just nine years old, joining the likes of Colin Firth and Kate Winslet. But she wasn't overly enthused with the award.

"It used to be a doorstop but it was getting dirty on the floor so now it overlooks the kitchen."

Harley is now 15 years old but continues to be the voice of the famous pig.  She'll be taking her role to the big screen in April with her first film Peppa Pig: My First Cinema Experience.
