30 years ago, Irish cyclist Stephen Roche’s family teased him that his trip to Paris to attempt the Tour de France would end in him taking a spin around the Eiffel Tower and returning home.

He went on to win the three biggest cycling races in the world in a single season: The Tour de France, the Giro d’Italia and the World Championship – a feat that is yet to be repeated.
