Harry Callan was just 17 when the cargo ship he was working on was sunk by the German Navy. He was one of 32 Irish men captured as Prisoners of War during World War II.
For two years, they worked at a labour concentration camp in Bremen. The goal? To build a submarine factory and swing the war back in Germany’s favour.
It’s estimated that 3,000-6,000 prisoners died building the factory, their bodies unceremoniously dumped in the foundations as the building work went on.
This documentary follows Harry, the last survivor of the group of Irish POWs, as he returns to Germany.
