Patsy Dan Rodgers is the last King of Ireland.

For the last 20 years, he has ruled the small island fiefdom of Tory Island. He’s fought battles reminiscent of his ancestor, Saint Colmcille. But his battles are for ferries and infrastructure, not fending off Viking invasions.

For two and a half years, Patsy’s friend Kieran Devaney has recorded Patsy as he goes about his royal duties, as he takes time out to perform as a musician and as he comes to terms with a cancer diagnosis that means he may have to consider the question: what happens after his reign?
