The opening of American doughnut chain, Krispy Kreme's 24-hour drive-through premises at the Blanchardstown shopping centre has already caused some raspberry ripples, with local residents complaining that doughnut-hungry drivers are keeping them up at all hours. And now, the cherry on top, Duffy's Circus has announced that it will not be coming to Blanchardstown, its busiest site, due to the extra traffic caused by the chain.
David joined Joe Duffy on Liveline and told him that a few weeks ago, Duffy's got a call from the Blanchardstown centre telling them that they've had to move staff cars to the space they used to lease to the circus.
"For the first time now in 9 years, we won't be playing Blanchardstown centre."

He says the management went "out of their way" to try to find them another location. But it wasn't to be, especially after a marathon PR effort by Krispy Kreme.
"I think they realised, like, what a phenomenon it was going to be."
Will David be implementing a doughnut boycott as a result? It's looking unlikely.
"I have to say, they're very nice…"
