The Virgin Mary pub is set to open on Chapel Street in Dublin in mid-February. It will look like a regular pub, feel like a regular pub but there'll be one distinct different. No alcohol.
Oisin Davis is the man behind the new business and spoke with Ray D'Arcy about Ireland's first alcohol-free bar. He says that it's clear there's a need for a pub with a difference.
"We feel that there are enough people in the city who are looking for an alternative to socialise with their friends during pub hours who don't want to be confronted by alcohol."
"If people who don't drink want to hang out right now in Dublin after 4 or 5 o'clock your options are very very limited"
Alcohol-free beer, wine and cocktails will all be on the menu. Oisin says he has found that regular pubs aren't always the best fit for people who choose not to drink alcohol.
"I had noticed though that if I had wanted to meet up with my mates and they were all heading off to the pub it's not particularly welcoming to people who are not on the drink that night."
