Story Notes
The devastating earthquake in Nepal in April 2015 left over 8,500 people dead and half a million houses destroyed. How does a country cope with the rescue and recovery from such a disaster and how can new technologies help in the response?
In 'Documentary On One - After The Shock' Tim Desmond travels to Nepal to see the destruction up close and talks to people who lost loved ones, their livelihoods and homes as a result of the earthquake.
The international humanitarian response now uses the latest innovations in communications, search and rescue, health and building technologies to improve the quality and efficiency of recovery from disasters like the Nepal earthquake.
We hear from the humanitarian workers on the ground coordinating the efforts to respond in the best way possible for the people of Nepal.
