Eyewitness footage captured cars stranded on flooded streets and vehicles being swept into the sea by rising floodwaters in Spain's Gran Canaria.
A sudden storm hit the Telde region, bringing the city to a standstill as dozens of cars were seen floating down the roads and crashing into a ravine.
The Spanish meteorological agency, AEMET, had issued a yellow alert for the Canary Islands.
In response, Telde city hall urged residents to stay indoors and avoid unnecessary travel.
