The world is watching as countries attempt to broker a final deal at the UN's climate summit, COP28.
The marathon talks are set to overrun after a fortnight of negotiations aimed at signalling the phasing out of fossil fuels.
Among those following developments in Dubai is a delegation of students, academics and researchers from University College Cork (UCC).
UCC was the first Irish university to secure official 'observer' status at COP meetings.
This year, the university redistributed three of its badges granting access to COP to climate activists from Columbia, Kenya, and South Africa in order to increase the representation of people from the global south at the discussions.

Speaking from Dubai, UCC student, Dearbhla Richardson, 23, said: "I hope this is something that UCC will continue to do in the future. It is something that other universities who have access to COP can learn from. Civil society organisations, NGO's and indigenous peoples all need to be represented at COP and they need to have their voices heard."
