Watch: COP delegates share advice to their younger self

Delegates at the COP28 Climate Summit in Dubai have shared what lessons they would share with their 10-year-old selves.

From getting involved in politics at a young age, to preserving water, the summit's attendees told RTÉ News what they think.

"Plant the seeds of change for tomorrow and you will be a climate superhero for the green legacy you are taking today," one said.

"Look after the environment, plant more trees, look after water security, and food security is very important," another said.

The 21st session of the COP (COP21) led to the Paris Agreement, which mobilised global collective action to limit the global temperature increase to 1.5C above pre-industrial levels by 2100, and to act to adapt to the already existing effects of climate change.

The United Arab Emirates and several charities at the UN climate summit have offered $777 million (€714m) in financing for eradicating neglected tropical diseases that are expected to worsen as temperatures climb.

Ireland will contribute €25 million over the years 2024 and 2025 to the new Loss and Damage Fund, the Taoiseach has told delegates.
