A Russian court has upheld a decision to keep former US Marine Paul Whelan in custody until 29 March pending trial on charges of espionage.
Mr Whelan, who holds Irish, US, British and Canadian passports, was detained in December 2018 and accused of spying.
He denies the charges and says he was framed.
Mr Whelan was detained after receiving a thumb drive containing a list of all the employees of a secret Russian state agency.
His lawyer has said his client had unknowingly accepted secret information from someone.
