At a press conference in the White House press briefing room, the president said a man armed with multiple weapons and ‌wearing a bulletproof vest charged a security checkpoint at ‌the event.

He said one officer was shot but "is in great shape".

At a separate press conference, the DC police chief said the suspect will be arraigned tomorrow on firearms and assault charges.
