Watch: Escaped zebras bring traffic to standstill in US

Four escaped zebras brought traffic to a temporary standstill in Washington State, surprising drivers and prompting authorities to launch an operation to capture the animals.

According to a Washington State Patrol spokesperson, the driver who was transporting the zebras stopped to secure the trailer during Sunday afternoon when the animals escaped on Interstate 90 near exit 32.

Police said three zebras were wrangled, including two that were taken back to the trailer and a baby zebra that was "corralled", adding that one was still on the loose.

"This is a first for me and all @wastatepatrol troopers involved. Four Zebras that were being transported got loose when the driver stopped to secure the trailer EB 90 to exit 32. The community has come together to help", Trooper Rick Johnson said on the social media platform X.
