A Dublin man has appeared in court in New York charged with assaulting a 21-year-man from Co Longford, who died after being punched outside a pub in Queens in November.
Steven O'Brien, with an address at 42nd Street, Queens, New York was released on continuing bail and is due to appear in court again on 9 September.
Danny McGee, who was from Drumlish, was found lying unresponsive on the ground outside the Gaslight Bar in Queens, New York shortly before 4am on Thanksgiving Day, 22 November 2018.
The 21-year-old was taken to hospital but later pronounced dead.
The cause of his death was determined to be a blunt impact injury to the head.
Prosecutors say Mr O'Brien punched Mr McGee once to the side of the head after the two men became engaged in a verbal row.
Mr O'Brien's attorney Matthew Gartenberg said: "We are preparing to go to trial and are looking forward to Mr O'Brien being fully exonerated."
