Video has emerged of the moment a newborn baby was found alive in a plastic bag in the US state of Georgia earlier this month.

Forsyth County Sheriff's Office (FSCO) has released parts of the footage from the body camera worn by the first FCSO Deputy on scene the night the baby, now named India, was discovered.

According to FCSO, the baby is doing well in the care of the Georgia Department of Family and Children Services and they are continuing to receive tips on the case.

In a statement on its Facebook page, FSCO said it was releasing the footage "in hopes to receive credible information on the identity of Baby India and to show how important it is to find closure in this case".

It also reminded people that Georgia has a Safe Haven law, which allows a mother to leave her baby, up to 30 days old, at any medical facility in the state without fear of prosecution.
