The Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service has said it is currently working to extinguish a "large fire" in the Belfast port area.

No injuries have been reported as result of the blaze, which is burning "in a large quantity of scrap metal" at Clearway Metal Recycling on the East Twin Road in the city.

"The fire is in a pile of scrap metal measuring approximately 50m x 50m," it said.

The NIFRS said nine pumping appliances, an aerial appliance, a high volume pump and 60 firefighters are engaged in firefighting operations.

Crews are using "a high volume pump" to put out the blaze.

Members of the public are encouraged to stay away from East Twin Road and those in the area should keep windows and doors closed.

Operations will continue for some time, it said.
