A 32-year-old man accused of the murder of a Co Donegal businessman has been sent forward for trial to the Central Criminal Court.
Michael Maloney appeared by video link at Letterkenny District Court today.
Garda Sergeant Jim Collins told the court that the Director of Public Prosecutions had consented for the charges preferred against Mr Maloney to be sent forward to the Central Criminal Court.
Sergeant Collins asked the court for a four-week adjournment to allow for the preparation of a book of evidence in the case.
Mr Maloney is charged with the murder of Ardara businessman Stephen McCahill, 66, at his home at Beagh, Ardara, in the early hours of Monday, 5 January.
Mr Maloney, a relation of Mr McCahill by marriage, from Loughros Point in Ardara, only spoke to reply to his solicitor, Mark Mullaney, to agree to a four-week adjournment in the case.
He is charged that on 5 January, at Beagh, Ardara, he did murder Mr McCahill.
The charge is contrary to common law and as provided for by Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1964.
Judge Emile Daly adjourned the case until 25 May for the service of a book of evidence.
