Around 51 firefighters are working to extinguish a fire at a recycling site in Co Derry.

The Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service said six fire appliances attended the scene of the blaze at Clooney Road.

It said the fire is in "approximately 700 to 800 tonnes of scrap metal".

"This is a deep seated fire in scrap metal," the NIFRS added.

Work to put out the fire, it said, "are likely to continue throughout the night".

The NIFRS advised local residents to keep their windows and doors closed due to the level of smoke.
