Police have seized suspected drugs and firearms during a search operation at a residential area in Belfast.

The PSNI said a "large quantity of items" had been recovered during a planned search in Danesfort Park.

It is a residential area just off the Stranmilis Road in the city where properties can fetch up to half a million pounds.

Four people, three men and a woman, were arrested.

PSNI Inspector Róisín Brown said suspected Class A, B and C drugs as well as cash, suspected ammunition and firearms and component parts had all been found.

Those detained, including the men aged 25, 37 and 55, and a woman aged 56, are being questioned on suspicion of drug related offences, possessing a firearm in suspicious circumstances and possessing criminal property.

"We will continue to work tirelessly to search for and seize drugs, investigate and arrest those involved in drug supply and criminality, and remove drugs from our streets.

"Support from the public is crucial and, with your help, we can focus our efforts on identifying those who make their living and cause so much misery and harm by bringing drugs to our streets and neighbourhoods. Together we can help protect those you care about," Ms Brown said.
