A Status Yellow rain warning has been issued for five counties in Northern Ireland.

The UK Met Office issued the advisory for counties Antrim, Armagh, Down, Tyrone and Derry.

The warning will come into place at 10am and will remain in place until midnight.

The Met Office said persistent rain could lead to some flooding and transport disruption.

Meanwhile, there will be showery outbreaks of rain in many areas of Ireland throughout the day.

Met Éireann said the best of any drier and brighter weather is expected further west although showers will affect the southwest.
