Fourteen PSNI officers were assaulted across Fermanagh, east Tyrone, Armagh and south Down in separate incidents on St Stephen's Day.
The 14 assaults included a biting incident which led to one officer being hospitalised.
PSNI Chief Inspector Adam Ruston condemned the violence, describing it as a shocking number of assaults on police, which he said is "totally unacceptable".
"This type of behaviour places members of the public and our officers at risk of serious harm and we are lucky not to be dealing with serious injuries," he said.
Two police officers were injured when a car rammed a patrol vehicle in Forkhill in south Armagh. The car later crossed over the border, police said.
Chief Insp Ruston appealed to the public for information on the incident.
"At around 1.40am a silver Renault Megane collided with a police car on patrol in the area. The vehicle failed to stop and then fled across the border," he said.
"As a result, two officers were injured and the patrol vehicle sustained damage which will render it unusable for the foreseeable future."
