An 18-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a serious assault of a man in his 30s in Omagh, Co Tyrone.
The PSNI have said that a man was found with facial and head injuries at around 1am.
The incident took place on the town's High Street at its junction with Main Street, a gated pedestrian area containing a number of bars.
CPR was carried out on the man and he was taken to hospital when his condition deteriorated.
He is described as being in a critical but stable condition.
Police have said that the 18-year-old man was arrested at the scene of suspicion of grievous bodily harm.

An appeal for information has been issued and anyone with information, and who may have CCTV or dashcam footage, have been asked to make it available to police.
Detective Sergeant Johnston said: "We would appeal to anyone who may have come to the aid of the injured man to come forward.
"We know a number of people attempted to stop the assault, and provided first aid. We would be keen to speak to them, as we progress our investigation."
