A caravan has been destroyed in a "deliberate" fire attack in Co Down.

The PSNI have said that they were notified about the blaze at a caravan park in Millisle on the Ards Peninsula in the early hours of this morning.

"Our colleagues at Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service notified us of the fire at a caravan park in the Ballywalter Road area at around 2am," a spokesperson said.

"The van has been completely destroyed, and it's believed that ignition was deliberate.

"Thankfully, no-one was injured and the fire was extinguished before it could spread.

"We would appeal to anyone who may have noticed any suspicious behaviour in the area; or who may have CCTV, dashcam or other footage which could assist our investigation; to contact us on 101, quoting reference 226 20/12/25."
