A 58-year-old man who is accused of the murder of another man in Killybegs, Co Donegal, in April has been served with a book of evidence and sent forward for trial to the Central Criminal Court in Dublin.
James Spendley of St Cummin's Hill, Killybegs, is charged with the murder of 61-year-old Eddie Friel in Killybegs, Co Donegal, last April.
Mr Spendley was served with a book of evidence at Ballyshannon District Court this morning.
Mr Friel was found dead in his home in the Harbour View Drive estate in Killybegs on Sunday 13 April.
Mr Spendley was brought before Ballyshannon District Court.
He has been in custody since 15 April when was initially charged with intentionally or recklessly causing serious harm to Mr Friel.
That charge was later withdrawn, and Mr Spendley was then charged on 3 October in Ballyshannon Garda Station with the murder of Eddie Friel on a date unknown between 12 April and 13 April, at an address on Harbour View Drive in Killybegs.
The court heard that the Director of Public Prosecutions had consented to Mr Spendley being sent forward to stand trial at the next sitting of the Central Criminal Court, beginning on the 27 January.
Judge Éiteáin Cunningham noted the DPP consent to the accused being sent forward to the next sitting of the Central Criminal Court.
She remanded Mr Spendley in custody and she approved the appointment of one solicitor and two counsels.
