A person has died following a house fire in the Killygowan area of Co Cavan.
Gardaí were called to the scene yesterday at around 7.35pm.
Local fire services also attended the scene and extinguished the fire.
The person's body was found within the extensively damaged residence.
At this stage, gardaí have not said whether the remains are those of a male or female.
The person's body currently remains at the scene, which has been preserved to allow for a technical examination to be carried out.
Gardaí have said the office of the local coroner has been notified and enquiries are ongoing.
