Gardaí are investigating a serious assault that occurred in Killashandra, Co Cavan over the weekend.
Emergency services were alerted after a man was found unresponsive on Main Street in the town at around 1.30am in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The man, aged in his 20s, was brought to Cavan General Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
A technical examination of the scene has since been conducted by the Divisional Scenes of Crime Unit.
Gardaí have also confirmed that investigations remain ongoing.
