Murder inquiry following death of man, 42, in Lisburn

Police have begun a murder investigation following the death of a man in Lisburn this morning.

Police got a call from the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service just before 1am. Officers attended a property in the Wardsborough Road area of the city, which is in Co Antrim.

A 42-year-old man was found with serious injuries and was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital. He died there this morning.

A 38-year-old woman and a 37-year-old man have both been arrested on suspicion of murder.

They remain in custody.

Detective Inspector Jill Angus said people could expect to see an increased police presence in the area.

"Although our investigation is at an early stage, we are working to establish the circumstances surrounding the man's death and to determine exactly what happened."

She appealed to anyone with information to contact detectives.
