A woman in her 50s has died after getting into difficulty while swimming at Gleann Cholm Cille, Co Donegal.
Gardaí were alerted to the incident just after 7pm last night after the woman was taken from the water.
The tragedy happened after she went swimming at An Trá Bheag yesterday evening.
She was airlifted to Sligo University Hospital where she was subsequently pronounced dead.

The woman lived in Dublin and had just finished a week long Irish language course at the much sought after college Oideas Gael.
People who knew her said she had been regular visitor here in the past 20 years.
A post-mortem examination is due take place and a file will be prepared for the coroner.
