A Status Yellow warning for thunderstorms in counties Cavan and Monaghan has been lifted.

Met Éireann said that isolated thunderstorms, moving eastwards, would bring the potential for lightning damage and spot flooding.

The warning was in effect until 4pm.

Overall, it will become mostly dry across the country as the day goes on.

Met Éireann said that it will be "unseasonably" windy on Friday and the weather will remain fairly unsettled over the weekend.

There will be a few showers next week, but it is likely to be generally drier with lighter winds.
