An investigation is under way into the death of a man whose body was found in Killybegs, Co Donegal.
He has been named locally as Eddie Friel, who was in his 60s.
Gardaí and emergency services responded to a report of man found unresponsive at a house on Harbour View Drive at about 12.20pm yesterday afternoon.
He was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.
The local coroner has been notified, and a post-mortem examination by the State Pathologist will be arranged.
The results of the post-mortem examination will determine the course of the investigation.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses and those with information to come forward.
Cathaoirleach of Donegal County Council, Cllr Niamh Kennedy told RTÉ News the death has caused shock in the community.
"It is devastating. The whole community is in shock. No one can understand how something like this could happen in such a small close-knit community.
"Everyone knows everyone. The family [of the deceased] are well known to our community. Our thoughts and prayers are with them tonight and over the coming days and weeks ahead. It is going to be a really tough time," she added.
