Two men have been arrested after cannabis worth €2.2 million was seized in Donegal.

The 112kg of herbal cannabis was discovered in Lifford yesterday, as part of an intelligence-led operation.

The two men, both aged in their 30s, are being held at a garda station in the northwest.

The drug seizure was made as a result of a joint operation conducted by the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB) and Donegal Divisional Drugs Unit and Revenue's Custom Service.

Gardaí say that investigations are ongoing.
