An anti-immigration protest in Belfast has been met with a counter rally involving trade unionists and politicians.
Both groups gathered at the City Hall at lunchtime. There was a considerable police presence in the area.
The counter protest was several times the size of that protesting about immigration.
Several tricolours were displayed alongside union flags by the anti-immigration protestors.
One person attending the anti-migrant protest was arrested.
A series of speakers addressed the trade union gathering.
Members of the SDLP, Sinn Féin, People Before Profit and the Green Party were among the politicians who attended.
Alliance Mayor of Belfast Micky Murray also observed the protests and spoke to police.
The main road through the centre of the city was closed for a time to facilitate the protest and counter protest.
