A teenager who was arrested in connection with a fatal road crash in Co Donegal has been released without charge.

The crash happened on lower Main Street in Letterkenny in the early hours of yesterday morning.

Two pedestrians, who were brothers aged in their 60s, were struck by a car as they walked home.

One of the brothers passed away at Letterkenny University Hospital. He has been named locally as Anthony Gallagher.

His brother Martin was taken to University Hospital Galway where he is being treated for his injuries.

The driver of the car was arrested at the scene of the crash and has been released without charge. A file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions and the Garda Youth Diversion Bureau.

Gardaí say that their investigation is ongoing.
